Art IASAS

In both 10th and 11th grade, my art was selected to represent the Singapore American School at the Interscholastic Association of Southeast Asian Schools Visual Arts Cultural Convention. Below are the chosen works.

In this piece, I juxtapose love and hate by placing bubble tea, an object that I love, next to insects, a longstanding fear of mine. These two contrasting elements work together to create a striking and unique composition.

Nature can often be viewed in an extremely pure and idealistic light. I wanted to depict this perspective by placing a scene of a cottage in the woods inside a snowglobe. Snowglobes can often symbolize purity, innocence, and a so-called ‘better time’.  I attempted to contrast the colors of the figure holding the snowglobe and the snowglobe itself to enhance the purity of the scene within the globe. Furthermore, I used darker colors for the background and depicted the figure ‘fading away’ to illustrate the current deteriorating quality of the natural world.

Art competitions

I was very excited to participate and win silver in World Heritage Painting Competition in Singapore.
