Debate
Another passion of mine is debate. I have always been passionate and vocal when sharing my views and enjoy considering different perspectives, which is what first drew me to debate in 6th grade. But what keeps me engaged is the community of like minded curious learners that I found in debate. As a 9th grader, I was honored to be the only freshman selected for the Singapore Secondary School Debate Championship, where my team reached the semifinals and I was named the 7th best speaker out of over 200 participants.
Beyond competing, I enjoy teaching debate basics to 9th graders and judging their practice debates, which led to my selection as captain of the intermediate debate team. In 10th grade, I helped select and lead our school's team for the Singapore Secondary School Debate Championship, and in 11th grade, I was chosen to represent SAS at the IASAS Debate Championship, where our team earned a bronze medal. I am currently a captain of the SAS debate team and look forward to continuing to lead and mentor others in this activity that has played such a meaningful role in my personal growth.

Events organised and positions held
I have been a debate captain since 10th grade leading both the Singapore Secondary Schools Debate Championship team as well as the IASAS team for my school. Additionally, I helped organise the annual Singapore American School Novice Debate Tournament three years in a row which involved participants from over a dozen schools across Singapore.
Debate coaching for younger kids
In addition to leading as a captain I helped coach beginner debaters throughout my high school career, creating weekly lesson plans and leading them through drills to improve their debating ability.
