SAS Executive Service Council

Beyond environmental science and debate, I also care deeply about service and having an impact on my community, which I have done through service clubs and by taking on multiple leadership roles at SAS.
After serving on the Executive Service Council for the past 3 years, I was elected its President. I currently oversee, support, and manage over 40 service clubs on campus. I’ve organised the Celebration of Service event to honour exemplary students and provided annual feedback to clubs to support their growth and help them improve. One of my major initiatives was launching a Service Learning program in school, which incorporated service learning elements into the Humanities 9 curriculum, a required course for all 9th-grade students. Through the ESC, I love having the opportunity to give back to my school community and supporting the amazing service projects being undertaken by other students.
Blue Planet Initiative
I have also been elected President of the Blue Planet Initiative, our marine conservation club, which I have actively participated in over the past 3 years through organizing quarterly beach cleanups, and bringing together participants at five different beaches across Singapore. I also spearheaded a water conservation initiative aimed at reducing the school’s water usage by adjusting air conditioning schedules

Global Issues Network
I help lead the Global Issues Network club as its Vice President. At GIN, I participated in over 10 tree planting and sapling care events in collaboration with student groups from the National University of Singapore. I also led educational workshops for more than 100 elementary school students, teaching them about renewable energy, energy conservation, and recycling practices. For two consecutive years, I organized an Earth Week Informational Booth, where high school students were quizzed on environmental facts and rewarded with prizes to raise awareness about pressing environmental issues.
Singapore Oceanarium Youth Ambassador
Currently, I am working with the Singapore Oceanarium as their Youth Partner to involve students from other schools in marine conservation activities such as beach clean ups, intertidal walks, and expert talks. My goal is to advocate for marine conservation in Singapore, engage other high school students by having them participate in conservation activities and to foster a community of youth interested in protecting our oceans.

Alliance of Guest Workers Outreach
The Alliance of Guest Workers Outreach, AGWO’s aim is to provide migrant workers in Singapore with holistic care in a sustainable manner. They conduct classes to help workers, especially from shipbuilding industry nearby, with digital skills like computer literacy as well as vocation and recreational skills. I have conducted several art workshops for them where I taught migrant workers how to paint on canvas bags and other materials. Being a significant departure from their daily routines and engaging in their creative side, the migrant workers really enjoy these sessions.
